A major downtown bank is looking for a senior systems tester. Base salary is between $95-110K, Description below:
Area Overview
The Systems Validation and Testing (SVT) Function ensures the execution of standardized, rigorous testing for the Technology Services Group (TSG) solutions prior to customer delivery. SVT conducts Systems, Performance and Security testing for applications developed in TSG. Utilizing test automation framework, it achieved a 60% reduction in regression testing execution times. Investments in tools and development of the testing framework helped reduce cost and achieved quicker time to market, higher levels of software quality and greater customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
• Test application software to ensure user specifications are met. Prepare test strategies, test cases, and test environments.
• Conduct and evaluate complex system specifications to formulate and implement comprehensive test coverage utilizing both automated and manual procedures;
• Prepare and maintain planning documents that describe system level functions and their related tests to establish traceability between requirements and tests;
• Work with systems development team and client management to specify and implement comprehensive tests that define thorough functional tests of GUI and non-GUI interfaces;
• Organize and conduct all phases of testing;
• Maintain test documents as software requirements change;
• Research and evaluate alternative test approaches; recommend the most efficient and cost effective approach;
• Evaluate, document, track and communicate individual test results and defects;
• Work with developer and the system test lead to review defects, and to track and verify their resolution; May suggest ways to achieve required system objectives and to eliminate system errors identified by the functional testing process;
• Give some direction and guidance to other Systems Testers; and
• Perform related duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least six years experience in systems analysis, application program development and systems testing;
• Proficient in software testing tools to support the testing process;
• A broad knowledge of the system development life cycle, web application infrastructure (e.g., application servers, messaging, databases), the client area’s business functions and systems and QA test methodologies (required to satisfy integration, functional and automated regression testing);
• Strong communication skills;
• Strong analytical ability and judgment;
• Some management capabilities;
• Proven ability to work effectively with client and development management and staff; and
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and to adjust to changing priorities.
